Change your life: Step 7- Prayer, meditation and gratitude.

Weight loss is something so many people strive for, and keeping it off is usually even harder… Making a shift in the way we think about food and exercise is the only way to get in shape and stay there. So, here is step 7 in my 10 step series….

Step 7: Prayer, meditation and gratitude.

Prayer is a powerful tool in creating the life you want. Not just for weight loss but in all aspects. To be clear, I’m not pushing religion by any stretch, I’m just talking about becoming more spiritual. I’m talking about having a relationship with a God of your understanding, your divine self, that inner voice that guides you. Pray to your higher power, not anyone else’s. Turning your will over to the care of God as you understand him, is, well, like magic! You will begin to see amazing things happen in your life. Just be mindful of what you are asking for. Ask for guidance and strength to get you through your day, not “dear God, why can’t I lose weight?” Ask what you can do, today, to move closer to your goals.

When asking for guidance and strength, become quiet, and the answers will come. Meditation is all about listening. I know it’s hard to even be still for a minute so this will take practice, maybe years before you are really able to be still in your mind but this is about progress not perfection!
Being grateful is very important to your lasting success and just being fulfilled in general. Personally I include my “thank you’s” in my morning prayers, but a gratitude list is powerful too. Make a list, daily, of at least 10 things you are grateful for and be sure to include even the little things. Being grateful for even ½ inch lost keeps you out of your head and having negative self talk. Be thankful for all your health from healthy organs, the weight you lost, to the pants you now fit into, or even being grateful that you got out of bed this morning!. I would also recommend you add other things or people in your life that you are grateful for! Maybe you are grateful for your job, supportive family, or this program and your weight loss coach….
